Welcome

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is designed to review, approve initiation of, and conduct periodic review of all research projects involving human subjects conducted by The University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) faculty, students, or staff (including collaborative projects with other institutions and agencies).  Before submitting a project for review, investigators are urged to read The Handbook for Ensuring Protection of Human Research Subjects [in pdf].

Reminders                                                                                

1. All PIs and Collaborators must complete CITI Training prior to initiation of project.
   
   
2. All proposals must receive IRB approval prior to initiation of project.
   
   
3. The IRB committee meets one time each month to review all completed proposals.

Proposal Submission Procedures

1. Complete Request for Review – Projects Using Human Subjects (rev. 08/31/21).

                   (NOTE: The Reviewer's Form is used to evaluate the Request for Review Application.)

1. • Special Considerations Categories
     1. Please check all that apply.
     2. "Students" refers to students at a level less than college, in which case children should also be marked.  If they are university students, that category does not have to be marked.
        
        
2. Pregnant or lactating women should only be marked if that is the specific group that is being targeted.
   
   
3. Obtain required signatures.
   
   
4. Submit the original Request for Review form and all applicable attachments to the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research.  Incomplete applications will result in a delay of approval.
   
   
5. The OSPR will notify the PI of the IRB's decision within 14 working days of the meeting.
