ULM alum, instructor and West Monroe dentist receives distinguished service award
University of Louisiana at Monroe alum Dr. L. King Scott, (B.S. '75) of West Monroe, received the Louisiana Dental Association's Distinguished Service Award.
His award was recently presented during the 133rd House of Delegates of the LDA's annual session at the Shreveport Convention Center.
Scott—a part time instructor of Head and Neck Anatomy in ULM's Dental Hygiene Program—spoke candidly about his university experiences and attributed much of his success to the education he received at ULM.
"I received a fabulous education at ULM," he said.
"ULM prepared me well for professional school. I try to instill into my students the same attributes that were instilled in me at ULM; excellence, setting goals, and following through. To this day, I still recommend ULM to high school students because ULM is such a great university with a long history in health sciences."
According to Annette B. Droddy, assistant executive director of the LDA, "The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor bestowed by the LDA and is given annually to individual members who exemplify the highest standards of professional conduct in dentistry and make extraordinary contributions in organized dentistry and their community."
Dr. Kirt Touchstone (B.B.A. '75), presented the award to King, a dentist in West Monroe.
Touchstone is a 1975 ULM College of Business graduate who attended LSU Dental School with King.
