KEDM at ULM talks recycling at “Policy and a Pint” Aug. 20

At 5 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 20, KEDM Public Radio housed at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will host “Policy and a Pint” at The Pickle Barrel in Monroe.

The public is encouraged to participate with questions and comments on recycling efforts in the area.

The forum is free and all are welcome to attend.

KEDM News Director Bob Lenox will moderate a panel of experts including City of Monroe Beautification Coordinator Gregg Smith, Monroe Garden Study League Conservation Committee Chair Cathy Cheek, and owner of Handshake Recycling in Farmerville Steve Jones.

Panelists will provide information on how to start recycling efforts in homes and businesses.

Cathy Cheek has six bins in her home and drops off weekly recyclables at two collection sites.

She says “Recycling now, it’s a necessity. It’s something we all have to do for our planet and our communities.  We can’t keep on depleting our resources.”

The “Policy and a Pint” series is designed to provide access to experts on community issues in an informal atmosphere.

KEDM Public Radio, located at 250 Stubbs Hall on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus, is a community partner dedicated to improving the quality of life in the listening area.
