ULM Alumni Association opens Warhawk Heritage Park
Warhawk fans have a new tailgating opportunity this upcoming football season—the University of Louisiana at Monroe Alumni Association’s Warhawk Heritage Park.
Heritage Park will serve as ULM’s newest tailgating destination, hosting the RVs and tents of alumni and friends as they cheer on the Warhawks.
Heritage Park is located off Bon Aire Drive between the ULM Alumni Center and “Bon Aire,” the President’s home.
Scott Higginbotham, president of the ULM Alumni Association Board of Directors, said, “Since we understood there was a waiting list for spots in The Grove and the university already owned the property, the association voted unanimously to fund the earth work, tree trimming, and surveying, which we were able to complete this summer.
The new tailgating area contains 64, 40 foot by 70 foot spaces, many overlooking Bayou DeSiard or shaded along Bon Aire Drive.
Higginbotham continued, “We feel it is a win-win situation for Warhawk fans that want to come to ULM and have a family-oriented tailgating experience with other fans and families. We certainly hope our first year will be a huge success as we serve all ULM alums and their families.”
Devin Girod, director of Alumni Relations, is excited about the new tailgating available to ULM’s alumni base and community friends.
“We are proud to expand as ULM’s tailgating experience continues to grow,” he said.
“This is a positive testament to athletic success and the support our alumni and community display.”
ULM football finished with eight wins and five losses last season and expects growing attendance for the 2013 season.
“Warhawk Heritage Park is poised to create another great campus environment for socializing with fellow alums, community supporters, and showing support in maroon and gold,” said Girod.
