ULM Hawkeye wins Associated Press awards
Four staff members from the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Hawkeye student newspaper won awards at the annual Louisiana/Mississippi Associated Press Managing Editors competition in Oxford, Miss.
“For students, it's always gratifying to get recognized by industry professionals for your hard work. These Associated Press awards indicate the quality product that ULM's Student Publications are turning out regularly,” said Christopher Mapp, director of Student Publications.
Emi McIntyre, a senior art major from Springhill, won first place in the College Feature Photos category.
Daniel Russell, a sophomore computer information systems major from Monroe, won third place in the Sports Photos category.
DeRon Talley (B.A. ’12) from Folsom, won third place in the Sports Feature category, and Shelby DeSoto, a senior mass communications major from West Monroe, won third place in the Personal Column category.
All awards were presented during the conference held at the University of Mississippi on Saturday, April 13.
