ULM’s Griswold presents at geriatric and gerontology conference
Dr. Paula Griswold, assistant professor in the Department of Health Studies at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, presented at the Louisiana Geriatrics Society’s 13th Annual Geriatric and Gerontology Conference recently held in New Orleans.
Dr. Annette Tommerdahl, assistant professor in Health Studies, collaborated on the work.
The presentation, titled “Activities Employed in Two Undergraduate Health Studies Courses That Bridge the Gap between the Senior Population and College Students,” focused on methodologies used in two undergraduate health studies courses to engage students in activities that bridge the gap between the senior population and college students.
The presentation provided valuable information to other educators and healthcare professionals on how these classroom activities have impacted the health studies undergraduate program, ULM, and the senior population of northeast Louisiana.
Griswold earned and a B.S. in Medical Technology and an M.S. in Life Sciences from Louisiana Tech University. She then earned a Ph.D. in Toxicology from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
She has taught at ULM since 2007.
Tommerdahl earned a B.A. from Concordia College. She then earned an M.S. in Exercise Physiology, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Student Affairs Administration from the University of Wyoming.
She has taught at ULM since 2008.
