Miss ULM 2013 to be crowned Oct. 11
The 2013 Miss University of Louisiana at Monroe Pageant is at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, in ULM's Brown Auditorium.
Miss Louisiana 2012 Lauren Vizza will emcee the event, which features 19 contestants.
The Miss ULM Pageant—which was honored with an award from the Miss Louisiana Organization for providing more scholarship money than any other pageant in Louisiana—is a preliminary to the Miss Louisiana Pageant, sponsored by ULM’s Campus Activities Board.
The competitive scholarship program emphasizes physical fitness, talent, public speaking, and academics. Contestants must demonstrate poise, personality, intelligence, and charm during the pageant, and must showcase a trained talent in a 90-second performance.
Each contestant must be a full-time ULM student and also adhere to grade point average requirements to compete in the Miss Louisiana Pageant.

Makeva Armant is a 20-year-old junior French major from New Orleans. Her platform is “Promoting Cultural Diversity,” and her talent is vocal performance.
Jameshia Below is a 20-year-old pre-pharmacy major from Natchitoches. Her platform is “Cancer, Chemotherapy, and Companionship,” and her talent is vocal performance.
Ashley Camp is an 18-year-old freshman pre-nursing major from Calhoun. Her platform is “Canines for Disabled Children,” and her talent is dance.
Victoria Enymard is an 18-year-old freshman kinesiology major from Slidell. Her platform is “65 Roses for Cystic Fibrosis,” and her talent is vocal performance.
Lauren Ford is a 19-year-old sophomore pre-pharmacy major from Monroe. Her platform is “Character Counts,” and she will perform a fiddle solo.
Stephanie Fraser is a 21-year-old senior business administration and accounting major from Alexandria. Her platform is “Humane Society of the United States,” and her talent is dance.
Nesha Freeman is an 18-year-old freshman pre-pharmacy major from Baton Rouge. Her platform is “Humble Servants of St. Jude,” and her talent is vocal performance.
Candice Johnson is a 20-year-old senior kinesiology major from Keller, Texas. Her platform is “F.I.T.” for a Queen: Building Self Esteem,” and her talent is dance.
Amy Matherne is a 20-year-old junior music education major from Monroe. Her platform is “Promoting Visual and Performing Arts Education for Young People,” and her talent is vocal performance.
D’Ara Pillette is an18-year-old freshman toxicology major from Vacherie. Her platform is “Foster Care Up-Rise,” and her talent is dance.
Blair Richardson is a 19-year-old freshman English major from Olla. Her platform is “Chronic Migraine Awareness,” and her talent is dance.
Haley Smith is an 18-year-old freshman pre-pharmacy major from Dubberly. Her platform is “Overcoming Childhood Obesity,” and her talent is dance.
Ty’Shina Smith is an 18-year-old freshman pre-nursing major from Warren, Ark. Her platform is “A Fight for Obesity and its Depression,” and she will perform a dramatic scene.
Kylie Stracener is a 21-year-old senior mass communications major from Calhoun. Her platform is “Promoting Leadership through Student Involvement,” and her talent is vocal performance.
Jasmine Taylor is a 19-year-old freshman kinesiology major from Bastrop. Her platform is “Jastay’s Shining a Light: Impacting Generations Across the Nation,” and her talent is vocal performance.
Sarah Torregrossa is a 19-year-old freshman mass communications major from West Monroe. Her platform is “Mental Health Awareness,” and her talent is vocal performance.
Raegan Trusty is a19-year-old sophomore sppech-language pathology major from Paris, Ark. Her platform is “B.A.M.—Be a Mentor,” and she will perform a gymnastics dance routine.
Kendra Williams is a 23-year-old mass communications graduate student from Monroe. Her platform is “Empowering Leaders of Tomorrow, Today,” and her talent is dance.
Marquisha Williams is an 18-year-old freshman marketing major from New Orleans. Her platform is “Making the Environment Cleaner,” and her talent is vocal performance.
