Greek Honor Society Awards presented at Athenian Awards banquet

The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Office of Greek Life, and Order of Omega Greek Honor Society held its annual Athenian Awards banquet Tuesday, May 1, in conjunction with Student Affairs Awards Night.

Greek students and chapters were recognized for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

"The chapters within the Panhellenic, Interfraternity, and National Pan-Hellenic Councils annually compete for these awards to see who the top chapter within their respected council is," said ULM Greek Advisor Keith Hembree.

A highlight each year is the awarding of the Overall Chapter Excellence Award, the highest honor any Greek chapter at ULM can receive.

The award features a competition in areas of campus involvement, chapter operations, community service, education, intellectual development, leadership, risk management, and values integration.

"The awards are based on the guidelines used in the Fraternity/Sorority Assessment Project that assesses Greek Systems across the country," said Hembree.

"It is great to see members and chapters within our Greek System being recognized for all their hard work and dedication to the university. I am very proud of our award winners and congratulate them on an outstanding year."

Greek Spirit Award: Jacobi Thomas of Opelousas, and of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

ULM Recreational Services Awards

The following individuals and chapters were also recognized by ULM Recreational Services:

Male Athlete of the Year: Austin Reich of Longview, Texas, and of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Female Athlete of the Year: Amber Arceneaux of New Orleans, and of Phi Mu Fraternity.

Men's All-University Athletic Championship: Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity

Women's All-University Athletic Championship: Phi Mu Fraternity

Phi Mu Fraternity - The chapter received excellence in the following areas of achievement: Academic Achievement, Scholarship Programming, Education, Community Service, and Chapter Involvement.

Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity - NPC Chapter of the Year and the chapter received excellence in the following areas of achievement: Academic Achievement, Scholarship Programming, Education, Community Service, Alumni Development, and Chapter Involvement.

Interfraternity Council (IFC) Chapter Awards:

Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity - IFC Chapter of the Year and the chapter received excellence in the following areas of achievement: Campus Involvement, Chapter Operations, Community Service, Education, Intellectual Development, Leadership, Risk Management, and Values Integration.

Kappa Alpha Order - The chapter received excellence in the following areas of achievement: Campus Involvement, Chapter Operations, Intellectual Development, Leadership, Risk Management, and Values Integration.

Kappa Sigma Fraternity - The chapter received excellence in the following areas of achievement: Campus Involvement, Chapter Operations, Leadership, and Values Integration.

Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity - The chapter received excellence in the following areas of achievement: Chapter Operations, Education, Intellectual Development, Leadership, and Risk Management.
