ULM's Stockley elected vice president and president-elect of LCHC
Dr. Joshua Stockley, assistant professor of political science and director of the ULM Honors Program, was elected vice president of the Louisiana Collegiate Honors Council for the 2012-2013 academic year at the LCHC annual meeting at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux on March 16-17.
The vice president also serves as president-elect, meaning Stockley will be the president of LCHC during the 2013-2014 academic year.
"I am honored to have been nominated and elected by my fellow directors during my inaugural year as director of ULM's Honors Program," said Stockley.
"I look forward to exchanging ideas with other directors and implementing these ideas in an effort to improve what is already a phenomenal program here at ULM. I embrace the future challenge of guiding this organization as we strive to enhance Louisiana's reputation for developing future scholars and preparing future leaders."
The Louisiana Collegiate Honors Council is an association comprised of honors programs from universities and colleges across the state of Louisiana and is affiliated with the Southern Regional Honors Council and the National Collegiate Honors Council.
Students present papers and posters showcasing their own work and research and compete in a Quiz Bowl competition. Directors and administrators meet to discuss specific issues related to the furtherance of successful honors programs.
