Annual Region III Science Fair to occur at ULM March 6
The Region III Science Fair will occur March 6 in the University of Louisiana at Monroe Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Judging will take place from 8 a.m.-noon, and the award ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m.
The fair will be open for public viewing from 12-2:30 p.m.
Students are expected from Pinecrest Middle School, Grace Episcopal School, Franklin Academy, Ouachita Chritian School, Woodlawn Junior High School, Ouachita Junior High School, Curtis Academy, Calhoun Middle School, Northeast Baptist School, Crowville School, Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic School, and Claiborne Christian School.
The students have completed projects in the following categories: Animal Sciences, Behavioral and Social Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Earth Science, Energy and Transportation, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Bioengineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Mathematical Sciences, Medicine and Health Sciences, Microbiology, Physics and Astronomy, and Plant Sciences.
There will be a junior division (grades six-eight plus a few exceptional younger kids) and a senior division (grades nine-12).
Dr. David Hare, the interim department head of the ULM Mathematics Department, will award the prizes.
This year, cash prizes will be awarded to the best performing schools in addition to the usual certificates and trophies.
