Political science grad making his mark at law school
ULM is proud to congratulate 2011 political science graduate Charles Strauss on his second place finish in the Stetson University College of Law Opening Statement Competition.
The competition was open to all first year law students.
Strauss, originally from Sulphur, was a member of the ULM Honors Program and actively involved in ULM's Social Science Research Lab.
Strauss said, “The writing intensive focus of the political science department and my public speaking opportunities from the SSRL definitely equipped me with the skills I need to excel here.”
Stetson Law is ranked #1 by US News and World Report in Trial Advocacy and their trial team currently holds more national championships than any other law school, according to Political Science Professor John W. Sutherlin.
Strauss said, “Stetson is notorious for producing the sharpest and most competitive trial attorneys. It’s a big honor to come down here and successfully represent ULM among alumni from other major universities. It demonstrates that my education and training from ULM is of high quality, and our graduates can compete with anyone,” stated Strauss.
Sutherlin added, "Charles Strauss is an example of what ULM can produce. He is a well-trained and talented student who is ready to excel at the next level."
