ULM Museum of Natural History invites public to November events
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Natural History Museum would like to invite everyone to two featured events in November.
On Nov. 15 from 6-8 p.m. in the Museum of Natural History, Kelby Ouchley will discuss and sign copies of his new book, "Bayou-Diversity: Nature and People in the Louisiana Bayou Country."
From his series on KEDM Public Radio, "Bayou Diversity," Ouchley has compiled feature stories from the past 16 years into his new book.
Through a collection of essays about Louisiana's natural history, Ouchley details an amazing array of plants and animals found throughout the state, and his vignettes portray vibrant and complex habitats.
Ouchley's book was released in early October and is available on Amazon.com.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of Black Bayou and the ULM Museum of Natural History.
On Nov. 17 from 6-8 p.m. in Hemphill Hall Room 134, the Northeast Louisiana Archeology Society and the ULM Museum of Natural History will host Eric Glatzer, who will present his documentary titled "The Secret of the Ouachita."
The story profiles a civilization that took root in the valley between the Ouachita and Mississippi Rivers at least 12,000 years ago and lasted until the Europeans got to Natchez, Miss.
The event synopsis stated, "This is not the story of the North American Indians you learned in high school!"
Glatzer has reportedly gathered "the best and brightest in North American archaeology" to tell the story of one of the longest lasting human civilizations known to have existed.
Picturesque photography from the ground and air will bring the story into focus.
