KEDM Public Radio gives thanks with holiday programming Nov. 21-24
KEDM Public Radio, 90.3 FM, will give thanks with a feast of 10 Thanksgiving-themed specials.
November will include sounds from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square for "Songs of Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Blessings, We Gather Together, and Expressions of Gratitude."
These programs of inspiring music will air Monday, Nov. 21, through Thursday, Nov. 24, at 12:30 p.m., and will capture the true spirit of giving thanks.
"Thanksgiving with Cantus" will air Tuesday, Nov. 22, from 1-2 p.m. Symphony cast host Alison Young will be joined by Cantus - one of America's best all-male choruses - for singing and storytelling about gratitude and what it is to be thankful.
"A Thanksgiving Celebration with Garrison Keillor" can be enjoyed on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. A broadcast of "Gratitude, Gravy & Garrison," the show includes a musical celebration of all things Thanksgiving performed by VocalEssence.
Keillor will contribute his signature monologue and comic new lyrics to familiar songs and hymns.
In "The Splendid Table's Turkey Confidential," Lynne Rossetto Kasper, award-winning host of "The Splendid Table®," will answer listener questions throughout the live, two-hour program on Thursday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m.-noon.
This year, Kasper will be joined by chef, cookbook author, and cooking teacher, Jacques Pépin. The chef has published 26 books and hosted 11 acclaimed public television cooking series.
Phone lines (800-537-5252) will be open nationwide from 10 a.m.-noon.
"Giving Thanks with John Birge" will be on Thursday, Nov. 24, from 1-3 p.m. With music and stories for Thanksgiving, host Birge creates a thoughtful, contemporary reflection on the meaning of the holiday.
"Giving Thanks" provides the perfect atmosphere for Thanksgiving: the warmth of great music and truly memorable words.
This year's selections include the world premiere performance of "Table Grace," Matthew Brown's choral setting of a grace by Garrison Keillor, sung by VocalEssence.
Between the music, it will be a contemporary celebration of the spirit of gratitude.
