International young adult author to visit ULM May 2, provide glimpse into world of writing
International author Peter J. Murray will provide a window into the world of a professional writer as he reads from his chilling Bonebreaker trilogy of horror fiction titles at the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus in May.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 5:30 - 7 p.m., Monday, May 2, in Strauss Hall, Room 270.
A master storyteller of young adult fiction writing, Murray is author of the popular series Mokee Joe.
Young adults and their parents and teachers are especially welcome to attend the event and educators may earn two CLU's upon recommendation.
Murray is among the most sought after children's authors today, and he will visit around 100 schools and meet with over 30,000 children during a typical academic year.
"The reaction of the children and staff to our visits never fails to amaze us … it's what drives us on and provides the incentive for me to keep on writing," said Murray.
Although he calls England home, his visits range from the Middle East to the United States with presentations that are highly interactive, dynamic and great fun for everyone.
Murray's visit is made possible by the generous support of the Carmel Hill Fund in partnership with the College of Education and Human Development Literacy Lab.
In addition to his ULM visit, Murray will also visit several Monroe City Schools.
On Monday, May 2, Murray will present at J. S Clark, and on Tuesday, May 3, he will visit area middle and high schools.
He will be taped at Lee Junior High, so that his presentation may be shared with the other middle schools.
Likewise, the presentation at Wossman High School will be available for the other high schools through a live feed.
On Wednesday, Murray will visit schools in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
"Our students anxiously await Mr. Murray's visit each year and love reading his books, " noted Margie Godwin, Monroe Project Director of the Carmel Hill Fund.
"Carmel Hill is thrilled to host Peter and his wife, Kathy, and to bring an international author to our area."
