ULM Business Alum launches special initiative at Ohio Business School

A University of Louisiana at Monroe business alum will help launch an important business initiative at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio this year.

Farmer School's Department of Accountancy announced that Dr. Timothy Eaton (B.A., '92) will join accountancy major Michael Rhodes to pilot the university's new Ernst & Young Teacher-Scholar Program.

The Ernst & Young Teacher-Scholar Program creates a special academic relationship between an accountancy faculty member and a high-achieving accountancy major, in partnership with E&Y professionals.

The goal is to engage the teacher and student in research related to issues of interest to practitioners and educators.

Eaton, an associate professor, has been named the initial Ernst & Young Teaching Scholar, and will serve as the faculty mentor for the program.

He teaches financial accounting and received the Richard T. Farmer Teaching Excellence Award in May, 2010.

He was an inaugural member of the Ernst & Young Academic Resource Center and has published more than 30 papers on various aspects of accounting.

Eaton is the son of current ULM Professor of Computer Science Virginia Eaton and retired Professor Travis Eaton.

"I am confident that Tim and Mike will set a high standard for future teachers and scholars."
