ULM Radiologic Tech students sweep competition at Mid-Winter Seminar
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Department of Radiologic Technology hosted over 300 radiologic technologists and student technologists at the Louisiana Society of Radiologic Technologists 2011 Mid-Winter Seminar.
ULM students swept the student competition with first place Emily Fuller, second place Courtney Allen and third place Thomas Tran taking honors in the senior division. Students Courtney Craig and Lacy McManus also placed in the junior division.
In addition to student competitions, the two-day seminar included business meetings and continuing education meetings.
ULM Faculty from the Department of Radiologic Technology, School of Nursing, Occupational Therapy Department, Department of Health Studies and the Social Work Department contributed to the seminar as speakers.
Speakers from across Louisiana, Texas, Illinois and North Carolina also presented.
Andy Allen of ULM's Department of Radiologic Technology serves as president of the LSRT and also served as the meeting's chair.
"One of things we try to instill in our students is the need for professionalism, and the level of participation of our faculty in such prominent roles motivates students to seek added responsibility as well," Allen said. "The results of the student competitions are a testimony to the quality of education we provide our students."
Other involved faculty members include LSRT President Elect, Brett Bennett, and Louisiana Educators in Radiologic Sciences Council Chair, Jaclyn Peters, and LSRT Membership Committee Chair, Lacy Davis.
