ULM professor provides illustration for "Business in the Trenches"
A University of Louisiana at Monroe assistant professor of digital media recently had a cover illustration published for a book about business.
ULM's John R. Rodriguez contributed the cover for "Business in the Trenches," which describes business as a battlefield and focuses on such topics as performance improvement, leadership development, communication, and conflict.
After a mutual friend brought them together on the project, Rodriguez's illustration was chosen by the book's author David Schroeder.
What started as a simple sketch turned into a fully illustrated, digital drawing.
"I was, and am still, very excited about the fact that he (Shroeder) decided to go with my art for his book cover," said Rodriguez.
Rodriguez uses a Wacom Intuous tablet, which allows him to interact "naturally" with computer paint programs.
"I feel that by working digitally, my options are limitless," said Rodriguez.
"In fact, when I participate in gallery showings, all of my pieces are created digitally."
The cover art is the first nationally distributed work by Rodriguez.
