Textbook rentals offer ULM students savings opportunities
The University of Louisiana at Monroe, in partnership with University Bookstore operator, Nebraska Book Co., is leading a national trend by announcing an innovative textbook rental program, Rent Everything, designed to lower the cost of textbooks for ULM students.
All textbooks in the bookstore are now available for students to rent.
Renting can potentially save students up to 50 percent off retail prices for new editions. The Rent Everything program offers ULM students another option when shopping for their required textbooks.
"A textbook rental program offers several advantages," said ULM Auxiliary Services Director, Mike Trevathan.
"Renting textbooks can save students money at the point of purchase, compared to paying full retail prices for their books. Re-using books also promotes recycling and sustainability."
Renting textbooks from the University Bookstore is easy, Trevathan said.
Students simply choose to rent textbooks, use them all semester and return them on or before the last day of finals for the term.
All that is required to rent a textbook in the Rent Everything program is a valid debit or credit card.
In another move to enhance customer service, the university recently placed an online ordering kiosk in the Student Union Building to help students avoid long lines in the bookstore during Rush Week.
