ULM professor to contribute to political discussion on LPB
A University of Louisiana at Monroe assistant professor of political science will appear on Louisiana Public Broadcasting's monthly news and public affairs program, "Louisiana Public Square."
Dr. Joshua Stockley, who also serves as director of ULM Honors Program, is contributing to a discussion about the debt difficulties in the U.S., most recently illustrated by the ceiling debate and the downgrading of the country's bond rating.
He is scheduled for taping at the LPB studio in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, Aug. 23, which will air at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
The format of "Louisiana Public Square" is a citizen roundtable discussion, followed by a question and answer session with a panel of four experts.
The 14-18 individual citizens are randomly recruited and surveyed by LSU's Public Policy Research Lab.
Other confirmed panelists are U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy (La.-R) and Dr. Rajesh Narayanan, associate professor of finance at LSU.
Stockley received his B.A. in History and Political Science at Oklahoma Baptist University and his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Oklahoma.
His teaching and research cover American government, state and local politics, campaigns and elections, political parties, Congress, Presidency, Southern politics, culture and politics, public policy, and public administration.
"I am honored to participate in the panel discussion with other distinguished guests," said Stockley. "The topic is timely and more relevant than ever, and I'm sure will lend itself to lively debate."
