Anderson delivers talk on women’s contributions during Civil War
An assistant professor of history at the University of Louisiana at Monroe presented a talk entitled "More Than Belles: Women of Action During the Civil War."
Dr. Jeffrey Anderson spoke at the main branch of the Ouachita Parish Library on Aug. 22 about women who stepped out of their societal roles to act as soldiers, scouts, spies, and rioters during the war. Anderson also showed a video entitled Full Metal Corset: Secret Soldiers of the Civil War.
This year marks the sesquicentennial of the Civil War between the States, which pitted North against South.
