ULM dancers and musicians prep for annual Spring Fusion performances May 6
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Dance Repertory Ensemble will once again take the stage for its highly anticipated Spring Fusion Dance Concert.
The event, scheduled for 7 p.m., May 6, in ULM's Brown Theatre, is free and open to the public and suitable for all ages.
There will be a special demonstration of ballroom dancing featured alongside the choreography of ULM Dance Repertory Ensemble members and original work from ULM Dance Faculty.
The dance styles of classical ballet, modern dance, jazz, and contemporary movement give the dance students a unique opportunity to showcase their work on a professional stage.
In preparation for the event, dance faculty, Robin Stephens, Tina Mullone, and Gretchen Jones created dances in artistic collaboration with ULM music faculty members, Louis Neighbors, Mark Clark, and Claire Evangelisti.
The professors have prepared singers and vocal selections from the opera Lakme and the musical Chicago to inspire and be matched with dance and musical staging.
Along with the musical inspirations of Leo Delibes, John Kander and Fred Ebb, other featured music comes from Wyclef Jean, Björk and Henry Mancini.
