ULM announces new pharmacy dean
Benny Blaylock has been named the new dean for the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy, pending approval of the UL System Board of Supervisors.
Blaylock began teaching at ULM in 1992 and served as associate dean between 2005 and 2010.
Of his new appointment, Blaylock said, "It's an honor to be the choice of the faculty, staff and students of the college of pharmacy and of the administration.
I have had the distinct privilege to be associated with, and now follow, three excellent deans who have established a tradition of excellence in the college," he said.
"Together with our outstanding faculty and staff, we will continue to improve, innovate and provide an outstanding education to Louisiana's future pharmacists and toxicologists."
His appointment was the result of a thorough search which produced a well-qualified pool of candidates from across the nation, said Provost Stephen Richters.
"I have worked closed with Dr. Blaylock as he served as interim dean, and I am confident that ULM's outstanding College of Pharmacy is in very capable hands."
