Film Series continues at ULM, next screening set for April 14
The new ULM Film Series continues this month with a screening of the French foreign-language film, Amélie, showing at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 14, in Stubbs Hall, Room 100.
Amélie (2001), nominated for five Oscars, is a whimsical romantic comedy set in Paris about a shy waitress who tries to help the eccentrics and misfits in her neighborhood while at the same time dealing with her own isolation. Audrey Tatou (The DaVinci Code) stars.
The series features one film per month, offering selections from the classic cinema, art cinema, independent, foreign, and documentary repertoire.
The University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Arts and Sciences and the English Department are hosting the monthly event. Army of Darkness is showing May 5.
All screenings are free and open to the public.
Filmgoers should know that since the series is sponsored by a college campus, the films were chosen with a college-age audience in mind.
The series is also designed to be intellectually stimulating and may contain ideas that are challenging or unpopular for some viewers; the films shown do not necessarily represent the views of the university or any of its staff.
Concessions will not be offered, and audience members are asked to not bring food or drink.
