ULM hosts wakeboarding event
The University of Louisiana Monroe and beautiful Bayou DeSiard served as host site for the regional Collegiate Wakeboarding Series on Oct. 23, where ULM student competitors in the event secured several wins.
The wakeboarding competition featured two other Louisiana schools, LSU and Louisiana Tech University, but the ULM team once again pulled away for another victory. ULM's Vic Sanchez captured a first place win and Cody Townsend secured a second place win in the Open Division.
Louisiana Tech came in second just edging out LSU. Kent Digby and James Hodge led Tech in Open and Intermediate Divisions. Reese Daquin also took first in Wakeskate to add even more team points. In the Women's Division, Jessica Walther of LSU took first, while ULM's Kalynn Oswalt and Kalynn Osborn took second and third, respectively.
Cody Yarbrough of ULM earned a third-place designation in the Beginner Division, while LSU's Garrett Kopsco and Kole Kindschuh captured first and second place wins, respectively.
According to the Collegiate Wakeboarding Series website: "The day couldn't have been smoother or more perfect with warm weather and warm water. Louisiana showed us why their scene is important and why we should continue hosting CWS events in the state."
Sponsors for the event included Buywake.com, Cobian Sandals, Company Wake, Pro Tec Helmets, Launch Gum, Indo Board, and Urban Rider Winches.
