MBA student wins iPad at ULM fall All-Majors Career Fair
Devon Raymond, a Master's of Business Administration candidate at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, pre-registered and attended ULM's All-Majors Career Fair on Oct. 13 hoping to meet prospective employers.
He did achieve that goal, but he also got an unexpected bonus.
Raymond filled out a contest entry form at his friends' insistence, dropped it into the box on the stage of the Student Union Ballroom, and said, "There's no way I'm going to win."
But later that afternoon he got a phone call. On the other end was the three-woman staff of ULM's Office of Career Connections, yelling in unison, "You won a 32-gig iPad!"
That night, Raymond reports getting almost no sleep because he was so "ecstatic and super happy" about picking up his prize the next day. "I've always wanted an iPad."
A native of St. Ann, Jamaica, and now a resident of Waterville, Maine, Raymond has played professional golf and also enjoys poetry, photography, and soccer. With an undergraduate degree from Grambling State University, Raymond was impressed with ULM's Master of Business Administration program and wanted to be a part of it.
"The Career Fair was awesome," he said.
Raymond was especially complimentary of the Career Connections staff for coordinating an event that gathered 52 outstanding companies in one place, providing a venue for employers and students to visit.
The first 50 pre-registered students in attendance also won 1-gigabyte flash drives.
