ULM Warhawk Flight Team spreads its wings in regional competition
The ULM Warhawk Flight Team recently demonstrated its skills in the National Intercollegiate Flying Association Regional competition in Killeen, Texas, where the team placed fourth overall. The ranking places the team in a potential bid for national competition. ULM now has the top flight team in Louisiana, after having trounced Louisiana Tech University of Ruston at the event.
Central Texas College hosted the competition, for a region that covers Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
Captains Yun Hwangbo and Alair A. Tudo lead the team, along with Faculty Advisor and Aviation Department Head Robert J. Corcoran.
Other team members include Garret C. Fontaine, Charles E. Gregory, Trevor Hall, Nikhil Joshi, Ann Lee, Brandy Lisonbee, Clay Ricks, Myranda Royal, Travis Shirley, and Amber Simmons.
ULM placed in the top ten in the following events:
- School Flight Events, fourth place;
- School Ground Events, fourth place;
- Top Pilot Award, Trevor Hall, fourth place and Alair Tudor, tenth place;
- Top Scoring Male Contestant, Trevor Hall, fourth place;
- Top Scoring Female Contestant, Brandy Lisonbee, fourth place;
- Top Scoring Contestant, Trevor Hall;
- Navigation Ranking, Trevor Hall and Charles Gregory, tenth place;
- Power Off Landing Ranking, Yun Hwangbo, fifth place;
- Short Field Approach and Landing Ranking, Trevor Hall, third place and Alair Tudor, fifth place;
- Message Drop Ranking, Brandy Lisonbee, fifth place;
- Computer Accuracy Ranking, Trevor Hall, ninth place and Ann Lee, tenth place;
- Ground Trainer Ranking, Trevor Hall, fourth place;
- Simulated Comprehensive Aircraft Navigation Ranking, Garret Fontaine, eighth place;
- Aircraft Preflight Inspection Ranking, Trevor Hall, eighth place.
