International nursing honor society recognizes ULM chapter with key award
The Lamda Mu Chapter at the University of Louisiana Monroe recently received an Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International 2009 Chapter Key Award.
The chapter was honored during a reception at the 40th Biennial Convention in Indianapolis.
Winning entries were recognized for excelling in chapter related activities including membership recruitment and retention, publicity and programming, professional and leadership development, and local, national and international collaboration.
The award was one of only a few given by the honor society this year to recognize outstanding programs organized by local chapters. Meme Johnson serves as Lamda Mu Chapter president.
The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is one of the largest international nursing organizations.
The honor society promotes nursing excellence through its initiatives in research, leadership, an electronic library, programming and publications and develops and distributes nursing knowledge for use in practice. The not-for-profit organization works to improve the health of people worldwide through leadership and scholarship in practice, education and research.
