Speech pathology master's program at ULM receives continued accreditation

The speech-language pathology master's program at the University of Louisiana at Monroe recently received continued accreditation from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Council on Academic Accreditation. The department has maintained its accreditation for more than 20 years.

Schools that receive continued accreditation must demonstrate satisfactory standards annually in six categories: administrative structure and governance, faculty, curriculum, students, assessment and program resources. The program's graduate coordinator submits annual reports on these areas in order to continue to receive accreditation.

"We received re-accreditation, in large part, due to the talents and hard work of the Speech-Language Pathology faculty members," Graduate Coordinator Dr. Johanna Boult said. "They continue to uphold the highest of standards for learning, in both the academic and clinical realms."

The program boasts impressive statistics as well. Speech pathology students have a 96 percent average graduation rate, a 96 percent pass rate on the national professional exam and a 100 percent employment rate.

"I am very proud of the dedicated work of Dr. Boult and the Speech-Language Pathology faculty," Dr. Denny Ryman, dean of the College of Health Sciences, said. "Their efforts guarantee students the highest quality education possible by meeting and exceeding standards required by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology."
