Miss Louisiana 2009 set to perform in benefit concert Sept. 24
Miss Louisiana 2009 Katherine Putnam, a senior at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will perform in a benefit concert at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24, at Monroe’s First United Methodist Church, 3900 Loop Road, to support the Children’s Miracle Network.
Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization that raises funds for hundreds of children’s hospitals around the country. CMN is the official national platform of the Miss America Organization.
Putnam, who leads a Contemporary Christian group at First United Methodist, will showcase the wide range of musical talent she possesses as she performs on the piano and also sings with friends and family during the fundraiser. The event is free and open to the public, but contributions to support the Children’s Miracle Network will be accepted.
Before being crowned Miss Louisiana as Miss Shreveport this past summer, Putnam captured the title of Miss ULM in 2007. Putnam, a piano performance major at ULM, chose as her platform the Miracle of Music. She is the daughter of Byron and Heather Putnam.
