ULM Athletic Foundation recognizes faculty mentor
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Athletic Foundation recently recognized Dr. Patrick Hebert, professor of communication studies, as the recipient of its annual Faculty Recognition Award.
Hebert was chosen from a narrow field of candidates and voted on by past recipients of the award. The award was established in 1999 to recognize faculty who mentor and keep Warhawk student-athletes focused on their academic goals.
"Dr. Hebert has been an outstanding professor and student mentor for the past 27 years,” said Dr. Benny Blaylock, an Associate Dean in the College of Pharmacy who serves as current chair of the University Athletics Council.
“His contributions to the academic development of student-athletes have been, and continues to be, significant. All associated with academics and athletics at ULM appreciate the work Dr. Hebert has done," he said.
Blaylock said the original list of faculty candidates come from those who are able to provide information from the student-athletes concerning which faculty members were willing to provide help and encouragement.
“It is always a privilege to be nominated by colleagues and an even greater honor to be selected,” said Hebert. “I share this award with all faculty who have labored long and hard in the academy serving all students, whether active in athletics or not.”
