ULM pharmacy students receive travel awards to national conference
Alaa Abuznait and Hazem Ali, both University of Louisiana at Monroe graduate students in the College of Pharmacy, were awarded “travelships” of $500 each to attend the 2009 American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists Annual Meeting and Exposition from Nov. 8-12 in Los Angeles.
Amgen Inc., a leading human therapeutics and biotechnology company, donated the award to Abuznait. Gattefossé, a leading provider of specialty health care ingredients and solutions, donated the award to Ali.
Abuznait will present a paper titled “In Vitro Up-Regulation of P-Glycoprotein Efflux Transporter.” Ali will present his paper titled “From Self-Emulsifying Drug Delivery Systems (SEDDS) to Nanostructured Lipid Carriers (NLCs): Impact of Lipid composition on Tocotrienol Partitioning post Lipolysis.”
“Receiving such awards demonstrate the quality of our graduate students and the competitive research we have in the College of Pharmacy,” Dr. Amal Kaddoumi, pharmacy professor and Abuznait’s major advisor, said. “I’m very proud of our AAPS Student Chapter members.”
