ULM pharmacy students take top awards at forum in Mississippi
Two University of Louisiana at Monroe pharmacy students took top honors at the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists Pharmforum 2009, held May 20-21, in Oxford, Miss.
Kiran Amancha of Warangal, India, and Hazem Ali of Mansoura, Egypt, achieved first and second positions respectively, out of 27 posters presented by the forum’s four universities: University of Mississippi, University of Tennessee Health Center, University of Arkansas Medical Sciences and ULM.
Assistant Professor Alamdar Hussain mentors Amancha, while Assistant Professor Sami Mahmoud Nazzal mentors Ali.
The University of Mississippi in Oxford hosted the forum, which is a regional scientific meeting for graduate students, post-doctoral students and faculty. It is organized each year by the AAPS student chapters of the Universities of the Southern Regional Discussion Group at participating universities.
“I am extremely proud of the impressive research carried out by our graduate students, and am very happy to see that the high quality of this work is appreciated by others,” said ULM Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences Head Karen Briski. “Mr. Amancha and Mr. Ali are very deserving of this recognition.”
“This is a testament to the quality of our students, faculty and program,” noted ULM College of Pharmacy Interim Dean W. Greg Leader.
