ULM dental hygiene students perform to perfection on national board exam
For the 10th consecutive year, University of Louisiana at Monroe dental hygiene students performed at a 100 percent pass rate on their national board examination. Twenty-three ULM students took the exam this year.
The American Dental Association Commission on National Dental Examinations gives the dental hygiene national board each year, and ULM graduates again rated above the national average.
“We are very proud of our students,” said Dental Hygiene Department Head Beverly Jarrell. “They have been successful in preparing for the future and are now ready to carry on as professional hygienists.”
Dental hygienists are licensed oral health professionals trained to help prevent and treat oral diseases and promote overall health.
As part of the dental care team, dental hygienists may serve in a variety of capacities, including clinician, educator, patient advocate, administrator or manager, and researcher in private and public health care settings.
