ULM Band Department trumpets in busy spring semester; performs Feb. 18 on campus
The ULM Band Department is in rehearsals preparing for a spring semester full of great performances.
On Feb. 18, the Wind Ensemble will present a concert as part of the ULM Composer-in-Residence series, performing composer Libby Larsen’s “An Invitation to the Moon and Short Symphony” at 7:30 p.m. in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall.
The ensemble will present a concert at 8 p.m., Feb. 19, as part of the South Central Regional Music Conference, highlighted by the world premier of composer Julie Giroux’s work, “Cordoba,” a concerto for piano. The composer will appear as guest soloist with the ULM Wind Ensemble on her concerto.
The ensemble will also perform Giroux’s “Khan,” dedicated to Ray Kramer, director of bands emeritus at Indiana University. The performance takes place in the Jack Howard Theatre at the Monroe Civic Center.
The Wind Ensemble will also appear as part of the ULM Visual and Performing Arts Prism program at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 in Brown Auditorium on the ULM campus.
The ULM Symphonic Band, conducted by Jason Rinehart, and the Wind Ensemble, will appear in a combined concert at 7:30 p.m. on March 13 in Brown Auditorium. The Band Department concert season concludes with a performance by the Symphonic Band at 7:30 p.m. on April 24 in Brown Auditorium.
