ULM’s Third Annual Warhawk Triathlon set for March 14
The Third Annual Warhawk Triathlon is set to begin at 8:30 a.m., March 14, at Oxford Natatorium on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
The race is for newcomers ready to complete their first triathlon as well as experienced triathletes looking to test their fitness level. The Association of Students in Kinesiology at ULM, ULM’s Activity Center, and Vantage Multisport are sponsoring the event.
The Warhawk Triathlon is a competitive event that includes a 400-meter indoor pool swim, an 11-mile bike ride and a three-mile run, ending at the finish line in the Grove. ASK has joined forces with Vantage Health Plan, The Bike Source, Coca-Cola, Brookshire’s, Bayou Pawn Shop, Haik-Humble Eye Institute, and Monroe Surgical Hospital to bring the annual tradition back to campus.
After the triathlon there will be food and gumbo for all participants.
Preregistration fees are $40 per person and $25 for ULM students; fees are increased for registering on the day of the event. This year the race will be restricted to 125 participants, so preregistration is encouraged. Go to: www.active.com.
Last year’s participants came from all parts of Louisiana, as well as Kansas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. ASK encourages Monroe residents to sign up for a great cause and have a healthy, fun-filled experience.
