Mitchel earns Glenwood Auxiliary Award Scholarship
ULM health studies major Kady Mitchel, a senior from Pineville, recently earned a Glenwood Auxiliary Award Scholarship. She plans to pursue a graduate degree in occupational therapy following graduation.
The Glenwood Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship Committee presented a $1,000 scholarship to Mitchel and to two other area university students at a breakfast held in their honor Friday, June 20.
Dr. Paula Griswold, assistant professor of health studies at ULM, commended Mitchel’s achievement. “Kady is a good student and has excelled in the Health Studies Program. She has definitely raised the bar for those that follow her. I am very proud of her accomplishments.”
More about the ULM Health Studies Program:
The ULM Health Studies Program is a four-year curriculum that prepares students for entry-level management jobs in non-clinical areas of healthcare or entry into graduate programs.
It begins with two years of guided liberal arts courses including humanities, mathematics and sciences on the main campus. Health studies students then study a variety of health study courses during the final two years.
The Health Studies Program also offers the Healthcare Marketing/Management option online in an accelerated format. The on-campus and online curricula are very similar; however, all health studies courses in the online program are offered in an eight-week accelerated system. The online accelerated method provides limited disruption to a student’s life while maintaining efficient, high quality education.
Department Head Dr. Jessica Dolecheck guarantees that, “The Health Studies program also offers personal attention, multidisciplinary learning, a practicum, close ties to a major teaching hospital, and cutting-edge education relevant to healthcare. Students will find a supportive and friendly faculty in the Health Studies Department who are eager to help them succeed in their studies and healthcare career.”
