ULM school of nursing graduates receive perfect score on national exam
The University of Louisiana at Monroe School of Nursing is known for producing excellent graduates who score well on the national licensing exam. However, recent exam results indicate that the May 2008 graduates obtained not just high scores, but perfect ones.
Graduates of the ULM nursing program earned a perfect score overall on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), a test considered the final hurdle in a nursing student’s career. The ULM students received a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX examination compared to an 86.34 percent national pass rate and an 89.08 percent state pass rate during the May 2008 testing cycle.
Successful scoring on the NCLEX is required to receive professional nursing licensure. The test, distributed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, covers a variety of topics, including basic nursing principles, management of care, growth and development, disease prevention, pharmacology, psychosocial adaptation, patient safety and management.
The ULM School of Nursing offers the Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing. The program includes educational tracks for students seeking a traditional degree plan, for licensed practical nurses seeking to become registered nurses and for registered nurses seeking the bachelor’s degree in nursing.
