All invited to attend R.E.A.C.H. Gifted and Talented Summer Program exhibit July 25 at ULM

Everyone is invited to an exhibit presented by the 2008 R.E.A.C.H. Gifted and Talented Summer Program Friday, July 25, from 1:30 – 3 p.m. at the ULM Student Union Building
(Ballroom C).

The 15 Research Enrichment Acceleration Creativity for those with High Potential participants, ages 9 – 17, created products for the exhibit. Older students focused on reactions while the younger students worked on change and structures themes.

Results include paintings reflecting emotional reactions, and a device similar to a Rube Goldberg machine – described as a deliberately overcomplicated apparatus that performs a simple task in an indirect and complex fashion – to illustrate mechanical reactions. Younger students wrote and illustrated books and created tessellation posters. Both groups worked in a pottery workshop on campus and enjoyed swimming at the ULM Natatorium.

A video documentary of the experiences that occurred during the two-week program will be shown at the exhibit.
