Division of Art faculty participate in SAAC exhibition in El Dorado

The Division of Art Faculty Traveling Exhibition of the University of Louisiana at Monroe is currently on display in the Merkle and Price Galleries of the South Arkansas Arts Center in El Dorado, Ark.

Associate Professor of Ceramics and Division Head Gary Ratcliff is showing figurative clay sculpture and utilitarian earthenware and stoneware ceramics in the form of bottles, bowls and lidded jars, employing crystalline glazes and raku firing techniques.

Professor of Painting Robert Ward is exhibiting landscape, nonobjective, figurative and portrait acrylic on canvas paintings embellished by refigured images and formed canvas constructions.

Professor of Graphic Design Brian Fassett is represented by computer-generated adverting art in the form of stationery, wine labels, exhibition posters and post cards, booklet designs, programs, logos, plaques, brochures, book covers and T-shirts as well as a polyptych digital still life symbolic illustration.

Associate Professor of Sculpture Cliff Tresner is displaying freestanding nonobjective and figurative substitutive cast bronze, subtractive carved wood and additive welded steel sculpture, with added harmonious objects.

Assistant Professor of Printmaking Jason Clark is represented by figurative color and achromatic original prints espousing the techniques of aquatint etching, polyester plate lithography, stone lithography, reliefs, monotypes, intaglios and plastic reduction reliefs.

Assistant Professor in Photography Richard Hayes is showing black and white and color prints of nonobjective, landscape, still life and figurative imagery from type-c prints, dye coupler prints, digital prints and silver gelatin prints, plus a hand crafted 12-ft. redwood, oak and ash canoe.




Assistant Professor of Art Education Joni Noble is showing landscape, still life and nonobjective acrylic on canvas paintings, as well as triptych photomontages.

Instructor of Art History Camille Jungman is exhibiting nonobjective, landscape, still life and figurative black and white silver gelatin prints, augmented by hand-coloring and mixed media collaged additions.

Instructor of Ceramics Wayne Horton is represented by wheel-thrown and hand-built "spirit figure" pieces.

The ULM exhibition opened Feb. 4, and the faculty were honored with an artist's reception Feb. 9. The works will be displayed at the spacious SAAC facility at 110 East Fifth St. in El Dorado through Feb. 28.
