ULM SBDC hosts Hudson Initiative Feb. 7
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Small Business Development Center will provide a free Hudson Initiative workshop Thursday, Feb. 7 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the ULM Administration Building, Room 2-105.
The Small Entrepreneurship Program, also known as the Hudson Initiative, was created by Act 440 in 2005 to offer Louisiana-based small businesses more access to contracting and procurement of goods and services with state agencies. Race- and gender-neutral, this goal-oriented program encourages state agencies and contractors who receive state contracts to use certified Small Entrepreneurships. Certification by the Louisiana Economic Development is a requirement for participation.
Rosemary Jackson of the Office of State Purchasing will be the speaker. Attendees will learn more about certification requirements, how to do business with the State of Louisiana under Hudson Initiatives, and contracting and procurement opportunities that do not require competitive bidding.
The LSBDC provides quality, no-fee, confidential, one-on-one counseling services to potential and existing business owners; provides no-fee management and technical assistance services by appointment; conducts workshops and seminars to help small business people become better managers and to keep them informed about current events and changing trends in today’s business world; and maintains a resource library which includes statistical data, census figures, SBA publications, and a variety of other information.
Preregistration is encouraged. To do so or for more information, call the ULM SBDC at: (318) 342-1224.
