ULM alum receives prestigious scholarship to study in Spain and important LFLTA grant
Etheldra Cristel Sharp, Rayville High School teacher and ULM 2006 graduate in Spanish, has been awarded a prestigious scholarship to study in Spain in the summer of 2008, sponsored by the Spanish Embassy.
The Embassy awards one scholarship per year to a member of the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers Association. As recipient of the award, Sharp will be able to choose among several universities where she will study Spanish for one month. Sharp was recommended by her school and by the Foreign Language faculty at ULM.
She also submitted a proposal for a grant to aid her students at Rayville: "Title-Eyes and Hands on Learning For Spanish Students." The grant will allow her to purchase materials to assist her students in learning Spanish. The Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers Association awards two $500 grants per year to teachers from areas throughout the state. Sharp is the first recipient of the grant from northeast Louisiana.
