ULM Division of Art exhibits at Masur Museum of Art
The Division of Art at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is well represented at the 35th Annual National Juried Competition currently on view at the Masur Museum of Art.
Professor of Painting Robert Ward is represented by two landscape acrylic on canvas paintings. Ward's painting "The Road to Wine Country" received an Honorable Mention Award in the painting media category. His student, Kelli Sims of West Monroe, is represented by a nonobjective oil on canvas painting.
Artists residing in the United States were eligible to submit in competition at least two recent works to be jurored by New York painter Carole Robb. A former Prix de Rome winner and Fullbright scholar, Robb curated the exhibition from what she deemed to be the more superior entries. Out of 372 submissions by 132 artists residing in 28 states, Robb selected 82 works by 65 artists to be accepted into this competition.
In addition to Ward and Sims, the university is also represented in this
collection by art alumni Adam Davenport, Jason Byron Nelson, Brad New, Philip Peyton and Kathleen Tumey.
The Juried Competition will be on view through April 26. Located at 1400 South Grand St. in Monroe, the museum is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays, and from 2 – 5 p.m. on Fridays through Sundays.
