Wilson recognized by Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers for third year in a row

Holly L. Wilson, associate professor of philosophy at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, has been recognized for the third year in a row by Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.

Wilson was nominated by students who have appeared in Who's Who Among American High School Students®, or in The National Dean's List®; both are publications honoring our nation's top high school and college students. These students are given the opportunity to nominate a teacher who has been most influential during their academic career.

Holly L. Wilson’s book “Kant’s Pragmatic Anthropology” was just released in paperback by SUNY Press of New York. The book appeared under scholarly books in the “Chronicle of Higher Education” (10.13.2006). One outcome of the positive reception of her book has been an invitation to give a paper on “Kant’s Physical Geography” at an international conference on that subject—this paper will be published in a new book on the topic from SUNY Press.

Wilson still finds time to give service to the community by instructing in area prisons; she is currently teaching ethics at David Wade Correctional Center.

She will also lead an educational discussion about “Prudence and Emotional Intelligence” Monday, Oct. 1 at a ULM Chautauqua Nexus. The event will begin at 7:15 p.m. in room 134 of the Hemphill Airway and Computer Science Building (at the corner of Northeast Avenue and Filhiol Street). It is free and open to the public.
