Professor elected VP of Louisiana Political Science Association
The Louisiana Political Science Association elected as its vice-president John Sutherlin, an assistant professor of political science at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Sutherlin was chosen during the annual LPSA meeting held jointly this year with the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
The LPSA represents all of the various political science departments across the state. Sutherlin, who served the organization for six years as secretary-treasurer, will be responsible for organizing next year's conference. This is the first time the LPSA has ever chosen ULM as host for the annual event.
"…The new facilities with multi-media conference rooms make ULM ideal,” Sutherlin said. “Also, since I have organized conferences and workshops before, the LPSA was comfortable in electing me as vice-president."
Sutherlin noted that last year he was able to take three undergraduate students to present their papers and hopes that because the conference will be in Monroe, more political science majors will attend and present.
