Bry Art Gallery shows 14th Annual High School Exhibition
ULM's Bry Art Gallery will show the 14th Annual High School Junior/Senior Juried Art Exhibition through Thursday, March 29.
Northern Louisiana high school art students were eligible to submit in competition, without fee, examples of their studio art endeavors.
A panel of ULM art faculty members juried these entries and curated the exhibition with what they deemed to be the more superior works. Out of at least 160 entries received, accepted entries of 32 works by 29 student-artists were chosen for display. Local artist Doyle Jeter served as awards juror and selected the various prizewinners, which were announced at an award reception in the gallery on Friday, March 9.
The Gretchen Dean Best of Show cash award went to Hannah Roberts of Neville High School in recognition of her still life graphite drawing "Broken Bones."
The Division of Art cash award was received by Lauren Gladney of Ouachita Christian School for a landscape colored pencil drawing.
Awards of Merit in the form of art supply gift certificates were received by Kyle Ferguson of West Monroe High School and Kirby Buttitta, Catherine Jeansonne and Brittany Lord of Neville High School.
Robbie Jones of Ouachita Parish High School, Nicole Saterfield of West Ouachita High School, and Lauren Gladney of OCS received Beverly Jean Marvin Art awards in the form of art supplies for potential ULM students.
Bry Art Gallery is included in the Division of Art of the School of Visual and Performing Arts. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Mondays Thursdays, and from 8 a.m. noon on Fridays.
