ULM Division of Art a dynamic presence at Masur Museum

The Division of Art at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is well represented at the Second Annual Members' Juried Exhibition currently on view at the Masur Museum of Art in Monroe.

Area artists who are members of the Twin City Art Foundation/Masur Museum of Art were eligible to submit up to three recent original works of art in competition. These entries were jurored by practicing and exhibiting Baton Rouge artist Sam Corso, who is a native of Monroe.

Corso selected the following works by ULM art students for display:

• figurative bronze sculpture and landscape graphite drawings by Joni Dollar
  
  
• nonobjective bronze and mixed media sculpture, figurative mixed media small/boxed sculpture, and an award-winning figurative and mixed media drawing by Erica Hijazi
  
  
• nonobjective clay and portrait plaster sculpture by Karen Robinson
  
  
• landscape intaglio prints by Megan Rushing
  
  
• acrylic landscape paintings, including those in diptych format, by art faculty member Bob Ward

ULM art alumni with works accepted in this competition include:

• Adam Davenport with figurative and landscape oil paintings
  
  
• Anne Eberle with landscape watercolor paintings and an award-winning figurative watercolor
  
  
• Mary Elizabeth Jones with landscape oil paintings
  
  
• Lou Kavanaugh with still life acrylic paintings
  
  
• Sarah Kelly with landscape silverprint photographs
  
  
• Stacy Mendaries with acrylic figurative paintings
  
  
• Linda Ward with an award-winning collage and mixed media polyptych

In conjunction with this competition, the museum is displaying works from their permanent collection. Included in this grouping is a portrait graphite drawing by alumnus Adam Davenport, still life silverprint photographs by faculty member Camille Jungman, and a landscape acrylic painting by faculty member Robert Ward.

The Annual Members' Exhibition will be on view through Sept. 2. Artists will be recognized at a "Closing" Reception at the museum on August 25. Located at 1400 South Grand St., the Masur is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, and 2 – 5 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.
