ULM celebrates Wine Over Water May 24

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Alumni Association and the Ouachita Parish Alumni Chapter invite everyone to enjoy a "taste of the university" at the second annual Wine Over Water, Thursday, May 24 from 7 – 10 p.m. on the ULM campus bridge.

Wine Over Water, ULM's signature wine-tasting event, will benefit the university’s scholarship funds. Tickets are $50 per person.

"The success of last year's Wine Over Water was incredibly amazing,” said Tania Simpson, president of the ULM Ouachita Parish Alumni Chapter. "More than 400 people attended the social event to support the university, contribute to scholarships, sample premiere dishes from local restaurants, and partake in specialty wines. It was at this event last year that I realized how much pride and passion not only our alumni, but our general community has in the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Everyone has a reason to be there."

Guests will stroll across the historic ULM campus bridge while sampling wine and hors d'oeuvres from various local restaurants that include Waterfront Grille, The Brandy House, King's Chophouse, Cormier's, Warehouse No. 1, Genusa's, Aramark, Catfish Cabin, P. Sally's, Elite Catering, Sports City Grill, Canard's, Thurman's Food Factory, and Portico. Guests will also enjoy live entertainment by Dr. Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster and party barge cruises on the bayou, compliments of Letsinger Marine.

For only $25, guests will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a Napa Valley Trip for two. This prize includes roundtrip airfare from Monroe to San Francisco, a rental car and three nights’ accommodations at the Vintage Inn (or similar) in Napa Valley. While there, individuals may tour the wine country, rejuvenate at legendary spas and sample world-class cuisine. Participants do not need to be present to win. Some restrictions apply.

Commemorative wine glasses will be sold for $10. Beverages will be provided by Marsala Beverage and Coca-Cola. Event photography is provided by Patty Stewart. The attire is dressy casual (no denim or shorts, please).
