New instruments showcased during concert April 25

A special ULM Flute Choir concert will showcase the new flutes purchased with funds from the recent Band Aid drive, a community fundraiser that raised more than $7,000 for new instruments. The concert will take place Wednesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Biedenharn Recital Hall.

The students are thrilled with the new flutes said Sandra Lunte, associate professor of music at ULM. "We are really excited because the whole concert repertoire was chosen to show off our new flutes," she said. "We were able to a buy new alto flute, a new bass flute, and a used E flat flute, which is especially exciting because they are no longer made."

Prior to the concert, student will greet audience members in the lobby, where they will display their new flutes.

There is no admission for this event.

In September realtor John Rea Sr. (B.A. ’68) and his business partner Mike Riley began ULM Band Aid, a penny campaign to fund new instruments for the ULM Band Department. Rea and Riley, thanks to matching grants from local businesses collected over $7,000.
