ULM provost announces three new deans
Stephen Richters, provost at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, announces three new deans at ULM - Sandra M. Lemoine in the College of Education and Human Development, Jeffrey Cass in the College of Arts and Sciences, and Denny G. Ryman in the College of Health Sciences.
Lemoine replaces Luke Thomas, who has served as CEHD dean for the past 4 years and will once again teach in the kinesiology department.
She comes to ULM from Lander University in Greenwood, S.C. where she serves as dean of the College of Education and professor of physical education and exercise science. She earned a Ph.D. in physical education at the University of Southern Mississippi ('84), an M.S. in physical education at Louisiana Tech University ('79), and a B.A. in elementary education at Louisiana Tech University ('78).
In Arts and Sciences, Cass replaces Mark Arant, interim dean, and prior to Arant, Carlos Fandal, who served as dean for 13 years and is now teaching in the foreign languages department.
Currently Cass is the associate provost at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas. He earned a Ph.D. in comparative literature at the University of California at San Diego ('91), an M.A. in comparative literature at the University of California at San Diego ('86), and a B.A. in English and German at the University of Dallas ('81).
In Health Sciences, Ryman replaces Jan Corder, interim dean. Ryman served as interim associate dean in the Division of Allied Health in the School of Health Sciences at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina. He returned to the classroom in 2005.
Ryman earned a Post-Doctorate Fellow in oncology studies at John Hopkins University (02-05), an Ed.D in human services administration at the University of Sarasota ('97), a degree in medical technology at the Antaeus Institute ('84), an M.S. in microbiology at the University of Arkansas ('82), a B.S. in bio/geography at James Madison University ('79) and an A.S.in biology/math at Ferrum College ('77).
Cass and Ryman will arrive at ULM July 1.
Lemoine will arrive July 16.
The hiring of these deans is subject to approval by the UL System Louisiana Board of Supervisors.
