Brumfield receives prestigious honor
Wayne Brumfield, vice president for student affairs at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will soon be named the 2007 Alumnus of the Year for the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
He will receive the award during an Honors Convocation Wednesday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at Southeastern, where he earned an M.A. in history in 1986.
Brumfield, who has worked at ULM since 2002, has played an important role in the revitalization of the university, said ULM President James Cofer.
"It’s very easy to praise a man like Wayne Brumfield. His talents and sincere dedication are essential to the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s continued renaissance as a student-centered learning institution. He makes the students’ safety, well-being and success his personal priority—we are fortunate to have his tireless devotion at the helm of Student Affairs.
